can't quote word for word, but at the dc this friday, the last talk given, the speaker actually said "not to question the faithful and discreet slave" and everybody around me was eating it up like it was cake.

my insides were churning when that guy said that crap.. and the funny thing is that if i hadn't been reading this board, reading the evilomg!

apostate literature they 'warned' us not to, then i would have been feeling guilty for my doubt, for my lack of faith, for being different, and all the rest of that crap.

Log onto the United Nations site and you can make tons of great presentations (secular talks) with the info found there. I am a terrible sales rep who never became a sales rep, so I guess I could say that I didn't learn anything whatsoever about public speaking that my one semester college class in speech taught me. I got a 'C' in speech.

By all means DO watch your association because there are people out there that may get you to do wrong things like going against the law. That would mean trouble for you. Don't rebel against the law or your parents. By leaving the Witnesses, you are not rebelling against them. You are simply making an educated choice for yourself. Please be careful of the friends you make by not making the dangerous, thoughtless, immature kinds of friends just to spite your parents. There are many very good people in this world and it may take time to find them, but they are there. The friends you mentioned may be some of these good ones. You don't have to be a JW to be a good person or make good friends, either. I don't mean to assume your intentions are not the right ones because I don't know you. I'm a mother of teenagers and that is the advice I give them. Be nice to your mom and dad but I don't believe you need to fall under their guilt trips. I wish you the best and take care with how your life is going because only you can do that.

Nothing has worked when trying to reason with my family. They just answer my reasons with the same kind of answers that we all used to give others when they asked us in grade school any questions: We must trust that what we are learning is true and not go against JH.
